5Handsome, high functioning, and quiet

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3TU4KB85DWS0U Have you ever heard a YZ400 or YZ426 with its stock exhaust? They are loud, painfully so, with an unpleasant, metallic crackly sound. These bikes were the first of the mass produced 4 stroke MX bikes, and Yamaha spent little if any time trying to make them quiet.
FMF's Q4 exhaust, refined well after the end of YZ400/426 production, is a much more modern silencer design, and it shows instantly when you install one. Gone is the unpleasant sound of the stock exhaust. Your old YZ will sound like a modern thumper with one of these installed.
My bike fired on the second kick after installing this silencer and the FMF Powerbomb header, and idled at a much much lower volume of sound than I had ever heard it before. It sounds like a derestricted playbike now instead of a cranky metallic monster. Low speed engine response is smoother, more linear, and as a result, makes the bike easier to ride in tight stuff. Power to roost is still there when you twist the grip, coming in a quick, deep bark.
This is a handsome exhaust for these old bikes. It runs much quieter than the dated stock YZ exhaust, and makes the bike easier to ride in a wider variety of situations. It's the best money I've spent on my YZ, and I wish I had done it sooner.
