4Decent windshield for the price.
By Franklin R. Caltrider
I have a 1994 Goldwing that I purchased new. Believe it or not, this was my first replacement windshield.

This past year, I had my local dealer do all the major service work (replace tires, brakes, etc.) which anyone knows who has had this type of work done - is expensive. Regardless, I felt it was a good investment on a motorcycle I love and have gotten a lot of use from over the years.

When I priced the windshield at the dealership, the cost and replacement were excessive - mostly because I had just put so much money into other repairs and service. I decided to risk purchasing a windshield and installing it myself.

FIRST ADVICE! Go online and learn how to disassemble your bike to install the windshield. What needs to be done is not as obvious as you might think. I also have the service manual in PDF so I printed out the pages that pertain to windshield removal.

I ordered the windshield after researching on AMAZON and read ing reviews. Not the cheapest and the not the most expensive. The order was made and the delivery came without any problems. I had no reason to contact the seller after the initial purchase. Included in the shipment was information about installing the new windshield.

I emptied my garage and laid out all the parts as I disassembled my bike to install the new windshield. Not difficult - but time consuming. I kept the pages from the service manual close by to review the disassembly instructions.

Everything went fine!

MY ONLY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE PRODUCT? From vibration it tends to slip down in position. I was careful to install, so not sure if the windshield is slightly thinner then the old, original windshield, but for some reason I find myself adjusting the windshield upward every so often. The windshield is held up by friction. There are two releases on each side of the bike to allow you adjust the height of the windshield, but after you snap them back into position they DO NOT seem to hold this windshield in position they way they did the old, original windshield. That is annoying mostly because I never remember having to do this for the original windshield after I adjusted it once.

The purchase includes cleaning instructions which is important. Using the wrong cleaning products to clean your windshield can destroy the finish and clear visibility of the windshield. Just like you would not use a house window cleaner on your eye glasses or coated lenses of your camera, DO NOT use the wrong cleaner on your new windshield.

WHAT DO I USE? I actually use a LARGE bottle of eye glass cleaner spray (I get it from Walmart or Sam's Club) and one of their large micro-fiber cloths designed to clean eye glasses. It works great. Cleaning more frequently, before the bug juice builds up, is probably a good idea too.

I only gave 4 stars because of the problem with windshield slippa ge. The seller, delivery, etc. were great!

Also, it does take a bit longer to receive this item. I am not sure if it is because of its size or not, but don't expect instant delivery. Also, the package came split open on the side and slightly crushed. It is packed with foam material to protect the surface of the windshield and even though the packaging was damaged on the outside, the product itself was fine and without blemish. I suspect this is a problem with the shipping company but the manufacturer should note this and make sure the product can withstand the abuse it might get in shipping and package it accordingly. Mine was fine, but I can see where it easily could have been a problem based upon the condition of the outer box when I received my windshield.
